Mattabesett and Mount Higby Trail

If you are looking for a walk which will give you some stunning views of the centre of Connecticut, this is the ideal place to visit with your family. You can hike for as little or as long as you like and enjoy views of Quinnipiac Valley as you go. There are some steep climbs which can challenge your body and you will be rewarded with the perfect spot for a picnic.

Bear Mountain Trail

If you want to immerse yourself in a rainbow of fall color, the best place you can come to do that is the Bear Mountain Trail. This is a stunning place which gives you a six mile loop to enjoy, and it is suitable for any age and ability. You’ll be rewarded with a stunning view over the state and it will give you some of the most vivid fall views of all time.

St. John Ledges and Caleb’s Peak

For a difficult challenge if you are looking to build up some muscle and get fit this fall, this four mile trek gove stop some steep climbs and rocky terrain but it will give back some beautiful views of the Housatonic River Valley. It is the ideal place for you to stop and grab a picnic with your loved ones and make sure to bring your camera to get lots of snaps of the surrounding area!

Talcott Mountain State Park

This is a National Park which offers a wide range of different trials which can suit either beginners or more expert hikers. One of the main benefits of the yellow trail in particular is that it brings you to the Heublein Tower which gives a full 360 view of the surrounding countryside. This trail is only 3 miles but involves a little climbing and it is a great option for a Sunday stroll with your partner.

Jessie Gerard Trail

In the midst of the People’s State Forest, the Jessie Gerard Trail gives you an incredibly rocky terrain and has dense forests which give you the ideal spot to admire the changing of the leaves at this time of the year. You can take a hike and climb through this part of the forest and be treated to some stunning views and hopefully spot a lot of wildlife too.

There are lots of amazing trails which you simply have to try this fall in Connecticut. Throughout the month you could easily walk every day and never visit the same place twice. So get out there and enjoy yourself as much as you can!
